What do we believe?

We believe in the God of the Bible. We believe he exists as a Trinity: three persons (God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit) yet one being. We believe that salvation for man is through faith alone in Christ alone by grace alone. God is the only god. To Him belongs all power, authority, and glory. All things were created by him and for his glory.

THE BIBLE is the word of God. We believe that the original autographs were directly inspired by God, and as such were the infallible, inerrant Word of God. The Bible is God’s self-revelation to mankind. In it, God sets forth THE TRUTH (which can be defined as God’s perfect perception of reality). We believe that THE TRUTH of Scripture is objective, authoritative, knowable, and universally binding and applicable. We believe that the Bible, when interpreted using a sound method of Bible study and the illumination of the Holy Spirit, provides the proper lens through which all of reality should be viewed. The Bible reveals God’s story of redemption, gives clear instruction on THE WAY to knowing God (eternal life), and lays out God’s holy, practical expectations and commands for how children of God [followers of Jesus Christ] should live. The Bible instructs our worldview as a school, and is vital for how we operate. We see it as binding, and as such influences everything we do.

THE LOCAL CHURCH is a body of believers in Jesus Christ. The purpose of the Church is to promote the true worship of God by means of teaching and preaching the Bible, God’s Word, seeking to win the lost to faith in Christ, building up believers, observing the two ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s supper, and promoting Christian fellowship. An inseparable ministry of the church is the education of its children, which is an important reason for FCS’s existence. We are a ministry of the local church. We also believe that for a believer to grow in faith, involvement in the local church is vital (Eph. 4:11-13). For this reason we highly encourage the consistent involvement of our students in the local church.

THE INDIVIDUAL is a special creation of God designed with the purpose of bringing glory to God. All mankind is created in the image of God (Gen. 1:26-27). This means that every individual is valuable and has worth because he/she is created in the image of God. Each individual’s worth comes from God. Each individual was created to glorify God by enjoying and displaying Him (Is. 43:6-7, I Cor. 10:31). (Piper, “Don’t Waste Your Life,”) As a school we believe that education plays an important role in preparing a child of God to more effectively serve God. We understand the importance a good education plays in today’s job market. However, we believe that as students are taught Christianly the preparation for a future job becomes secondary in light of what students can and should learn about God through each and every subject. It is our ultimate desire to see each individual walking in close relationship with God (which is what each one of us was created for).

THE FAMILY is a vital institution gifted by God to man for mankind’s proper growth and nourishment in the knowledge of God. God established the importance of parents teaching Biblical truth to their children when he commanded the Israelites: “These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.  Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up” (ESV, Deut. 6:6-7). We believe the home  was designed by God to be the primary place of Biblical instruction. We, as a school, do not take the place of the family, but exist to support the family by assisting them in educating their children for the glory of God.
